Tips to break down the complexity of writing an essay

How to write an essay effortlessly?

Essay writing can be complex at times. Students who are stuck up between writing many essays for different subjects often find it monotonous to write them. But if the complexity of writing an essay is broken down into simple tricks, they can be found interesting too!

How do we break down the complexity of writing an essay?
As said above, breaking the complexity is not easy. But here we have brought some of the steps through which anybody can start finding a joy in writing an essay.

Here we have presented four complexities which every student faces namely,
  •        Complexity in terms of structure
  •         Complexity in terms of readability
  •       Complexity in terms of use of language
  •        Complexity in terms of perfection

These complexities can be broken down by using simple procedures (if they are followed properly). They are written here in three phases.

4 Simple phases of writing an essay without making it complex

Phase I: Breaking complexity in terms of structure
  • Writing an essay which is divided into sections or parts: An essay must consist of three sections in them; introduction section, body section, conclusion section. Each being important, all must be given an equal amount of significance. Here is a link which conveys the value of conclusion section of an essay.
  • There must be a transition in each part: Introduction must subtly introduce the topic, not giving much information but enough to create interest. The body section must continue from introduction section where the information started. Lastly, the essay must conclude by summarizing the whole essay and standing to the point expressed.
  •  Adhering to formatting policy: Those essays which are properly formatted are appealing to read. Formatting styles such as appropriate font size, standard font, and correct use of spacing between each word; these make the essay presentable.

Phase II: Breaking complexity in terms of readability
  • Grabbing reader’s attention with the hook statement: A hook statement either makes or breaks the readability of the essay. They are important to hook the readers to continue reading.
  • Powerful content to provoke thought on the opinion expressed: The essay must be strong in terms of catching the reader’s attention and provoke thought on the topic. This must leave a lasting impression on how well the opinion is expressed.
  • Putting “Show, don’t tell” theory into practical form: A form of expression, essays must portray the idea expressed in a practical manner. Instead of using description, summary; more of actions, words, senses, emotions must be utilized to show the topic being written.
  • Adapt to the writing which readers find interesting: Audience who read an essay are taken by because of the interest it creates in the mind. Adapting to such writing requires more of patience and practice on writing such essays. More of practicality must be brought into it.
  • Keeping it simple: Often it is mistaken that high-quality essays contain high-end words found from thesaurus but never in everyday life. Such use of words will make it too flowery to grasp and too complex to understand. Keeping it simple works all the time.

Phase III: Breaking complexity in terms of use of language:
  •  Contractions must be avoided: Shortening of words from should not to shouldn’t or cannot to can’t must be avoided. Essays are more formal to include contractions thereby decreasing the quality of it.
  •  Practice vocabulary: Good essays are written using good language and writing skills essential to make them top notch. Hence vocabulary must be built to include good words (it does not mean to increase complexity) and approaching appropriately.
  • Pitching the essay with effective use of grammar: Wr iting without good grammar is like food without salt. Grammar skills must be brushed up or learned from the scratch to improve essays.

Phase IV: Breaking complexity in terms of perfection:
  • Proofread the essay: To get that perfect essay, it must be proofread several times. This will make it possible to find the errors which went unnoticed while it was written.
  • Research on the topic-brainstorm for them:When essays are given to write as assignments, topics come along. But there are chances where the student is given freedom to choose a topic on their own. In such cases, it is a great opportunity to find a topic or brainstorm and research on that. This leaves a perfect essay to write on.
  • Reading people’s essays to get better ideas on writing:Writing skills can be developed by practicing and by observing other’s writing skills. By reading other essays, their style of writing can be adopted and new ideas can be found through this.

These are the 4 phases of breaking down the complexity of an essay and writing it down effortlessly.
